Alleged Galaxy A8 Star Gets Certified By The Wi-Fi Alliance

A variant of the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star that is identified by the model number SM-G885F/DS has passed through the certification process of the Wi-Fi Alliance. This is the same model of the Galaxy A8 Star that has been certified recently by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Even though the certification of the Wi-Fi Alliance did not extensively detail the specifications of the upcoming device, the organization confirms that the Galaxy A8 Star will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed, although it is likely that the device maker’s proprietary skin will run on top of Google’s operating system. Moreover, the certification also states that the smartphone is compatible with Wi-Fi networks running on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies, while the model number of the unit tested by the organization indicates that the variant will likely be sold internationally and that the handset can accept two SIM cards at the same time.

Earlier leaks and certifications have already provided details regarding the design and specifications of the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star. Bluetooth SIG has recently certified the device and it noted that the Galaxy A8 Star will support the Bluetooth 5.0 standard. Recent reports further claim that the smartphone will be powered by either the Exynos 7885 or the Snapdragon 660 chipset, while other leaks claim that the handset could include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage. It has also been reported that people could expand the smartphone’s internal storage using a microSD card with a capacity of up to 256GB.

To keep its lights on, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star will reportedly include a 3,700mAh battery, and the device will reportedly sport a 6.28-inch OLED display with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and a resolution of 2220 by 1080 pixels. The dual rear cameras of the device will likely be equipped with one 24-megapixel sensor and one 16-megapixel module, while the front-facing selfie shooter is rumored to have an 8-megapixel sensor. The listing on the website of the Chinese telecommunications regulator TENAA already included images of the device and the photographs show that the Galaxy A8 Star will sport a dedicated hardware button for the tech firm’s virtual assistant, Bixby. In addition, the images released by the Chinese regulator shows that the handset will sport a fingerprint sensor on the back of the handset, and the dual rear cameras are arranged vertically near the upper left corner of the smartphone’s rear panel.
