Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Gets Certified By Bluetooth SIG

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is apparently drawing nearer to market debut as the tablet was recently approved by Bluetooth SIG. The application refers to the tablet by both its marketing moniker as well as the already-familiar model number SM-T835, so if there was still any doubt that the SM-T835 will hit the shelves as a direct sequel to the Galaxy Tab S3 then the application at hand should have dispelled them.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 was approved by Bluetooth SIG earlier today – May 15 – and although no exact hardware components were revealed, the application suggests that the slate will take advantage of Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. This characteristic fuels the idea that the tablet will rely on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, and the same chipset solution was previously suggested by a benchmark listing in February, along with other characteristics including a 10.5-inch display with a pixel count of 2560 by 1600 and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The same benchmark listings also revealed the inclusion of 4GB of RAM, 64GB of on-board memory, and a 12-megapixel main camera coupled with an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. Although the Bluetooth SIG application makes no mention of the software, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will likely run Android Oreo under the OEM’s proprietary user interface, and the UI itself should theoretically provide a handful of software goodies designed specifically for tablets.

All in all, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 shapes up to be an Android-powered flagship tablet, which is something that is rarely seen in the mobile market today when budget-friendly solutions like Amazon’s Fire HD slates seem to enjoy much more popularity. High-end Android tablet sales have decreased over the past few years and although Samsung itself isn’t as active in this segment as it used to be, the OEM doesn’t seem to want and abandon it completely either. As for availability, judging by these recent events it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is closing in to its debut, however, if it were to follow a yearly launch schedule as a direct sequel to the Galaxy Tab S3, it should have already been out by now. Having said that, it’s more likely that the upcoming slate will be unveiled in the coming months or around IFA in Berlin at the latest.
