Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Coming To China, Certificate Confirms

Samsung has obtained certification from the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for another model of the upcoming Galaxy Note 9 device that is supposed to be meant for the Chinese market. The Galaxy Note 9 spotted on the FCC’s website has the model number SM-N9600, which is a clear indication that the device in question is yet another variant of Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Note phablet. The news comes just a few days after it was reported that the Galaxy Note 9 was certified by the 3C authority in China, with that particular Samsung-branded device carrying the model number SM-N9608.

Last month, the international version of the handset bearing the model number SM-N960F made a stop at the FCC, with that particular variant meant to be shipped with Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 chip. Meanwhile, the SM-N960U is the unlocked Galaxy Note 9 model that is likely to land on store shelves in the United States, featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 silicon. As a standard industry practice, the FCC does not publish detailed product information for six months after issuing device certificates. The upcoming phablet is expected to launch on August 9 as part of a new “Unpacked” event set to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City, with the event being scheduled to start at 10 AM local time.

As a brief recap, the Galaxy Note 9 will be made of metal and glass and sport two horizontally aligned cameras, if a recently leaked set of renders is to be believed. As is traditionally the case with Samsung’s Android flagships, the Galaxy Note 9 will arrive in both Snapdragon and Exynos variants. The device is rumored to include at least 6GB of RAM and a curved QHD+ Super AMOLED display. It will supposedly come with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed and be offered in five color variants at launch: black, gray, violet, blue, and brown.
