In Red Dead Redemption 2 you pretty much have to care about your horse: not only can you bond with your steed, your ride can also permanently die. Given that horses are your main mode of transportation, you’re probably going to end up caring about your galloping pal. And with this being a Rockstar game, the physics are a show onto themselves, too.
You see where this is going, right? Horse riding wipes were inevitable in RDR2, but this time around, the game comes with a “cinematic mode” that distances the camera and adds black bar borders. Cinematic mode is a great way to take on the sights, but the problem is that it can ironically shroud your vision, making it impossible to steer clear of obstacles. Then again, even small things like tiny slopes can send you and your horse flying. Combine this with slightly cumbersome horse controls, and players are now officially cautioning each other about the dangers of cinematic mode.
Here are some of the best / worst cinematic mode accidents:
Of course, the horse fails aren't limited to cinematic modes. Red Dead Redemption 2 players are discovering that nearly any situation can be disastrous for your horse if you’re not careful:

It doesn’t help that horses, on the whole, seem a bit glitchy — I’ve seen clips of them getting stuck on geometry, floating into the air, and behaving oddly. Fortunately, more often than not these hiccups result in bizarre hilarity:
