Wednesday saw the big N unveil a whopping 47-game sale, chock full of recent, popular, and well-reviewed fare, for its Nintendo Switch eShop. The sale is valid between now and November 28. The Switch eShop has never received this many simultaneous discounts on well-reviewed games, and, while some of the discounts are a little paltry, most are surprisingly good.
Here's a slightly sorted list of the "best" discounted games, with quality and discount considered as ranking factors. In particular, the ports listed here are all solid Switch fare that we've tested. (We're picky about good Switch ports, as I've discussed at length.)
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze: $42 (30 percent)
- Most Bethesda games (Skyrim, 2016's Doom, 2017's Wolfenstein II): $30 (50 percent)
- Dead Cells: $20 (20 percent)
- Celeste: $16 (20 percent)
- Gorogoa: $7.50 (50 percent)
- Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: $24 (60 percent)
- Dragon Ball FighterZ: $42 (30 percent)
- Snipperclips: $10 (50 percent)
- Thumper: $10 (50 percent)
- Sonic Mania: $15 (25 percent)
- Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection: $26 (35 percent)
- Towerfall: $16 (20 percent)
- Blaster Master Zero: $5 (50 percent)
That's not to say there aren't other worthwhile or popular games in the sale (particularly the half-off discounts on brand-new sports games NBA 2K19 and FIFA 19), but with a list this big, we chose to focus on games and ports we've tested at length here at Ars. For a look at the rest of the giant list, head to Nintendo's sales-landing page, which also includes discounts on eShop downloads for the Nintendo 3DS (which, Nintendo insists, isn't dead yet!).
