Specs & Pricing Leak For "Budget" Samsung Galaxy S10 Variant

Samsung is rumored to release more than two Galaxy S10 smartphones next year, aside from announcing the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, the company is also rumored to release a more affordable variant of the Galaxy S10, and now some info surfaced regarding that phone on Twitter. This information comes from Ben Geskin, and he is referring to the device in question as the “Galaxy S10 budget model”, he did not use the word “Lite” or “Mini”. In any case, the source claims that the phone will feature a flat “Infinity-O” display, and that it will ship with two cameras on the back. On top of that, he says that the phone will ship with a side-facing fingerprint scanner, which is quite interesting, and if the shared info is to be believed, this smartphone will be available in quite a few variants. According to Mr. Geskin, the “Galaxy S10 budget model” will ship in three variants, the most affordable one will include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, the middle-of-the-road one will offer 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the most expensive one will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The source claims that the phone will be fueled by either the Snapdragon 845 or Snapdragon 8150 (aka Snapdragon 855), and the difference between those two SoCs will be quite important, of course. The Snapdragon 845 is Qualcomm’s flagship SoC for this year, and it will be replaced by the Snapdragon 8150 (aka Snapdragon 855) next year. Considering this is a Galaxy S10-branded phone, the company is expected to include the latest and greatest in it, but this is a “budget” Galaxy S10 smartphone, so who knows. The source also notes that this smartphone will cost somewhere between $650 and $750, which is not exactly a budget price tag, but there you go.

Background: The Samsung Galaxy S10 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2019, well, the whole Galaxy S10 series is. Despite the fact the Galaxy S10 series is not expected to become official for several more months, rumors and leaks regarding the Galaxy S10 have been popping up for months now. It’s difficult to know what’s real and what’s not, but the company has been rumored to introduce more than two Galaxy S10 devices in February or March next year. The “budget” Galaxy S10 was mentioned, which would essentially be the most affordable Galaxy S10 phone, and would not sport a curved display like the rest of them. That phone will also probably be a flagship phone with the Snapdragon 8150 aka Snapdragon 855, but it will be inferior to the other Galaxy S10 offerings. The Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will almost certainly become a reality as well, while a “tiny” Galaxy S10 handset has been rumored as well, a phone that will have a really small display, and be Samsung’s flagship for the small phone market. Its display is rumored to be 5 inches, though we’ve only seen a couple of such rumors, so who knows if there’s any truth to that.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will probably be comparable to the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus in terms of size, though Samsung is expected to make some notable design changes to its Galaxy S10 series, as the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus devices were the second-gen devices of the same design language. Samsung has a habit of making more notable design changes every two years. The Galaxy S10 handsets could include a camera hole in the display, as the one Samsung teased for the Galaxy A8s recently. That is just one option, on the other hand, Samsung may try to trim down bezels down further without implementing any holes in the display, or including any moving camera parts in the phone, considering how many patents Samsung has, and how many parts they make on their own, anything is possible at this point, though the camera hole option seems like the most probable one, at least if rumors are to be believed.

The Galaxy S10 series will probably ship in two SoC variants, as was the case in previous years. The US and Chinese Galaxy S10 units will be fueled by Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship, the Snapdragon 8150 aka Snapdragon 855, while the European model will include Samsung’s upcoming Exynos flagship, which will quite probably be named the Exynos 9820, but we cannot say for sure… that processor is launching tomorrow, though. The Galaxy S10 phones will probably include at least 6GB of RAM, though the “budget” unit may ship in a 4GB RAM variant as well. You can expect to see QHD+ Super AMOLED curved displays on the vast majority of Galaxy S10 units, while the device will include at least two cameras on the back, though some models may ship with three cameras back there. Interestingly enough, this “budget” Galaxy S10 unit is rumored to include a side-facing fingerprint scanner, while all the other Galaxy S10 models are rumored to ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner, while Samsung is also expected to ditch the iris scanning technology for the Galaxy S10, at least rumors say so. Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on the Galaxy S10, and on top of it, the company will pre-install its “One UI” skin which was shown off last year.

Impact: So, all in all, Samsung is rumored to release up to four Galaxy S10 flagships next year, and chances are that not all of them will become a reality. Rumors are all over the place at this point, and it’s difficult to expect that the company will throw out four Galaxy S10 phones out at once, or at all, so it remains to be seen which rumors were accurate, and which are just a figment of the imagination. It’s safe to assume that the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will be coming for sure, but other than that, who knows. Samsung will certainly change up the design of its Galaxy S series of phones, though, and it should become much clearer what to expect in the coming weeks, as we’re expecting to see a ton of rumors and leaks regarding the Galaxy S10 in the coming weeks.
