Samsung releases long Android Pie update roadmap - TalkAndroid

Samsung has dropped its Android Pie update roadmap addressing all the devices which will receive it – and disappointingly, many of the company’s customers will be waiting a long time for their slice of Pie.

Samsung has a long history of long delays when updating their devices to the newest versions of Android, though they have at least been delivering security patches very swiftly in recent years. With the announcement of their official Android Pie update roadmap for supported devices through their ‘Samsung Members’ app, the giant South-Korean conglomerate has again confirmed their commitment to this deficiency.

The announcement also confirms what was already known – that the Galaxy S7 and Note 7 series are no longer supported, as their two years of support have run their course.

On to the actual information and the Members’ post reveals:
S9 and S9+ began receiving their Pie in the last days of 2018 in some countries, and now January for everyone;
Note 9 won’t receive its Pie till February;
S8, S8+, and Note 8 get their fermented slice in March;
A8 (2018), A8+ (2018), A7 (2018), A9 (2018), and flagship tablet – the Tab S4, will join the dying pie-rty in April;
J4, J4+, J6, J6+, and A8 Star will eat their questionable share in May;
J7 (2017) will have an old pie all to itself in July;
and the J7 Duo will similarly have its moldy dish in August;
Xcover 4J3 (2017), and Tab S3 will share in the decomposing desert in September;
and the Tab A (2017)Tab Active 2, and Tab A 10.5 will all finally eat their 14-month-old pie in October.

Clearly, it’s highly disappointing that Samsung won’t have updated any of their phones until 4 months after Google’s initial release, let alone taking 14 months to update the last supported devices. Poor form, Samsung.
