100 years ago: Corn remedy removed corn from a pipe - Red Bluff Daily News

“General” Mead, who is ranching in the Manton country, has demonstrated to his own satisfaction that a certain corn remedy he has will render a corncob pipe impotent and unsightly.

The discovery was made in an accidental way, as many great discoveries are made. The “General” had the corn remedy in a grip along with the corn-cob pipe. The attraction of the pipe was so strong that the remedy uncorked itself, came in contact with the pipe and removed every vestige of corn.

The firm manufacturing this remedy will be sore because we neglect to mention the name of the remedy.
