Stalking the corn - The Outer Banks Voice

After the corn is harvested, black bears stalk through the corn stalks looking for stray ears not harvested, and kernels on the ground that broke off during the harvest. Recently, on Alligator River Refuge, this large black bear was seen foraging through the dried corn. Black bears are omnivorous and will eat just about anything. But corn is one of their favored foods.
